WUST has expertise in underground and surface mining engineering; geotechnical engineering with numerical modelling; geology, hydrogeology and geochemistry; mineral processing; environmental engineering and reclamation; reserve estimation and modelling; geophysics; mining machine systems; digitization in mining; mineral economics and financial management. Faculty of Geoengineering Mining and Geology has vast experience with international cooperation. It has been a member of Federation of European Mineral Programs (FEMP) for many years. Moreover it participated in Federation of European Mineral Programs EMMEP for 6 years and it enabled students to obtain double or triple diplomas. WUST has implemented 9 international projects in last 5 years (H2020 – 2, EIT Raw Materials – 6, Other types – 1); 7 national projects in the last 5 years (National Centre for Research and Development – 4, Ministry of Science and Higher Education – 1, National Science Center – 2). The institution had 23 submissions for IP (intellectual property rights) at national level in last 5 years; 6 national and 1 international innovation award in last 5 years. WUST is a member of the following international consortia: DISIRE, MOIRA, MaMMa, OPMO, AMICOS, SAFEME4MINE, CEDF, CEE_SIMP, MEITIM, MOBI-US, OpenYourMine, EC-GEO SUSTAIN, POWER.
